Ever since announcing I was now a Beautycounter consultant over on Instagram, I have received so many messages from women asking a variety of questions. What is Beautycounter? Why am I am consultant? What about my blog? Am I going to start posting ALL kind of salesy things now? How much did it cost? You get the picture!
So….I figured this was an easy way to answer all those questions and provide anyone looking with enough info you need to make an informed decision. I am a researcher by nature, and I took…ahem…years…to research this company. So, if you don’t get all your questions answered here, contact me!
WHY BECOME A BEAUTYCOUNTER CONSULTANT
What is Beautycounter?
Beautycounter creates safer and effective beauty products. They do a ton of ingredient research (they even commission their own studies) to make sure the ingredients in their products are safe (and there’s over 1500 products on their “never list” that they’ll never include in their product formulations). They also advocate for stricter guidelines and regulatory laws in the personal care industry. Beautycounter is on a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone, and provide high performing safe solutions!
Why did I join Beautycounter?
I’ve used their makeup and skincare for awhile now. I knew of the business side, but I really wasn’t interested. I just wanted to use the best and safest products on myself and my family. I joined their membership program, so I could get a discount on my products and was content. Then, I started learning more. I dabbled in a few other companies, but something was always falling short. If I loved the compensation plan, I couldn’t really be comfortable with the products. If I was in love with the products, I found the compensation plan wasn’t the best. With Beautycounter, I fell in love with their mission and products first, and then learned that the business side is just as impressive.
Since I transitioned to clean living I have turned down a large amount of the sponsored opportunities I’ve received because they don’t align with my lifestyle and mission. My blog is our sole source of income, so sometimes this was concerning. Thankfully, I have been able to earn a decent income through blogging, but since I am a natural entrepreneur, I was looking for something in addition to my blog that I could use to build that long term wealth.
I really I enjoy sharing things I love with others. Being a consultant would give me the perfect platform to do just that — share the brand — while creating another income stream to support my family. I am business minded, and know full well not to rely on only one source of income nowadays. My blog provides income we need now, but I am looking for long term, residual income that we can depend on.
What do you know about skincare and make-up?
Lol. Well, maybe more than the average mom? Maybe? I have always been into taking care of myself, and looking presentable. I enjoy being a girl and I enjoy makeup. Now that I am getting older, I have found I need to learn more about skincare! So, I know a lot because of my own experience and the research and training I have had. I don’t know everything, and I am not a makeup artist by any means! But, I am a mom committed to doing better and learning as I go. I have 6 young daughters and want a way to educate them on cleaner, safer products that won’t mess with their hormones. There is so much training available that I am not worried about not knowing, if that makes sense. I am a mom, and I can help other moms.
Did it cost anything?
Yes, of course. Through the month of July, it is only $50 to become a consultant, which gives you a personal Beautycounter website along with access to training and marketing tools, including a backend sales interface on the website. You have the option to buy bundled products when you sign up as a consultant for a great price (at an even better discount than consultants typically get), but none of that is required. However, your enrollment fee is waived in the month of July when you do purchase a starter set! You also aren’t required to keep any product on hand (customers order through your website), nor do you have to make any regular product purchases. You do have to sell $1,250 every six months, but this number includes your own purchases as well as customer purchases. And if you don’t meet those minimums, you just become a Band of Beauty member, which comes with a set of great perks to keep giving you discounted access to the brand.
Money talks…How much can you make from being a consultant?
You make 25-35% commission off of sales, and 5-9% off of sales in your down-line (team members below you) make. You do not have to have a team, you can earn a great income based of your customers alone. However, my goal is residual income, and I know that the income I want needs to come from both having customers and building a tribe. I am not going to be leaving my home to do any parties. I have a business savvy mindset and I want to stay home with my kids, so I work exclusively online. I can help you do the same, or help you with person to person. It is truly up to you.
What do I have to offer you?
If you know me at all, whether through my blog or Instagram or anywhere else, you know I am real and I lead with my heart. I am a Christian, first and foremost. That is how I lead my life. I am an honest person, and have a heart for helping other moms. I am not salesy and I won’t tell you to do something I wouldn’t be comfortable doing. I am also a big introvert!
With that said, I have years of experience in social media marketing. My blog is our full time income and I know a lot about attraction marketing and branding yourself. I am not about branding a company that is already branded – I will help you brand yourself and learn as much as you want to know, without compromising your family time. Community is so important to me, and I really am looking for a small team of ladies that can see the vision and take this as far as we can go.

This is my favorite question! Why did I join Beautycounter instead of any other company, even those that are also safer for you?!
So why Beautycounter?

With my research background, this is HUGE for me. Beautycounter is lobbying congress, and becoming a force for change.

Sounds great, but still — an MLM??
I know. I was there, too. I was thinking the same thing you’re probably thinking right now. I think MLMs get a bad reputation because of the consultants and their lack of training. Sorry, but I do. There are businesses out there that may be fabulous, but the consultants put a bad taste in our mouths because of the way they come after people.
I will never be the person who sends a message to someone just because they “liked” their photo on Instagram. That isn’t me and it shouldn’t be you, either. I can’t tell you how many messages I get on a daily basis! I also will NOT message a friend from high school that I haven’t spoken to in 15 years and ask if she wants to try a new lipstick or start a business. Nope!
Think about this: don’t you tend to trust your friends’ recommendations of products anyway? If they say they love something, don’t you trust it? Think about influencer marketing…you see products recommended on social media all the time by bloggers and celebrities. It is how the world works lately, isn’t it?
I have worked hard to build my own brand and my own platform, and I won’t compromise that. I naturally fit in Beautycounter by recommending products I truly use and love, and helping other people see the benefits. I want to lead with education; a lipstick isn’t going to help anyone, but knowing why you should switch to a natural lipstick and how small changes can add up – that can help many! I also love that I get to work from home as a homeschooling mom of seven. There is a lot of work that comes with that, but there is so much freedom and satisfaction! If I can help encourage a mom to supplement her family’s income a bit, while still being there for her babies – you know I will do what I can!
