In the whirlwind of daily life, with all its joys and challenges, finding time to sit down and delve into the Bible can feel like an impossible task. I get it; your days are filled to the brim with endless to-do lists, juggling kids, household chores, work commitments, and everything in between. It’s easy to push aside the idea of spending time in God’s Word when your plate is already overflowing. However, let me encourage you to consider why carving out even a few minutes each day for Bible study can be a game-changer for your peace of mind and overall well-being.

  1. Anchoring Yourself in Truth: In a world where chaos and uncertainty seem to reign supreme, the Bible offers an unchanging anchor of truth. When you immerse yourself in Scripture, you’re grounding yourself in the eternal promises of God. Amidst the noise of everyday life, His Word provides a steady foundation to stand on, reminding you of His faithfulness, love, and sovereignty. As Psalm 119:105 beautifully declares,“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

When you feel lost or overwhelmed, the Bible illuminates the way forward, offering guidance and comfort.

  2. Finding Strength in Weakness: Let’s face it; motherhood can be exhausting and overwhelming at times. There are moments when you might feel like you’re running on empty, with nothing left to give. However, when you turn to the pages of Scripture, you’ll discover an abundant source of strength to sustain you through every season. As Isaiah 40:31 reminds us,“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

God’s Word empowers you to rise above fatigue and discouragement, equipping you to face each day with renewed vigor and resilience.

  3. Cultivating Peace in the Midst of Chaos: Perhaps one of the most precious gifts that daily Bible study offers is the gift of peace. In the midst of hectic schedules, endless demands, and the constant barrage of noise, the Bible serves as a sanctuary for your soul. It’s a place where you can find solace, rest, and refreshment for your weary heart. Jesus Himself reassures us in John 14:27, saying,“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

When you intentionally prioritize time in God’s Word, you’re inviting His peace to dwell richly within you, transcending circumstances and bringing calm to even the stormiest of days.

Practical Tips To Help You Get Into Your Bible Each Day:

  1. Start Small: You don’t need to set aside hours each day to reap the benefits of Bible study. Begin with just a few minutes—whether it’s in the morning before the kids wake up, during your lunch break, or in the quiet moments before bed. Even a short passage or a single verse can provide a meaningful touchpoint for your day.
  2. Create a Sacred Space: Designate a cozy corner in your home as your “quiet time” spot—a place where you can retreat and focus without distractions. It doesn’t need to be elaborate; a comfortable chair, a soft blanket, and a candle can set the scene for a peaceful encounter with God’s Word. Waking up before the kids have been the easiest way for me to get in my quiet time.
  3. Utilize Resources: Don’t be afraid to lean on Bible study resources like devotionals, study guides, or Bible apps to help guide your reading and deepen your understanding. These tools can provide structure and insight, making it easier to engage with Scripture, especially when time is limited.
  4. Involve the Kids: If finding alone time is a challenge, involve your children in your Bible study routine. Set aside a family time each day to read a short passage together, discuss its meaning, and pray as a family. Not only does this model the importance of prioritizing God’s Word, but it also fosters a rich spiritual environment within your home. Kids tend to model what they see, not what they hear.
  5. Embrace Flexibility: Understand that your Bible study routine might look different from day to day and season to season—and that’s okay! Some days you might have a leisurely hour to dive deep into Scripture, while other days might only allow for a quick prayer or a brief moment of reflection. Embrace the ebb and flow of life, trusting that God meets you wherever you are.
  6. Stay Consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to establishing any habit, including Bible study. Make it a non-negotiable part of your daily routine, just like brushing your teeth or making breakfast. Over time, it will become as natural as breathing, and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

So, dear friend, even when it feels like you don’t have a spare moment to spare, I urge you to make room in your day for the precious gift of Bible study. Whether it’s stealing away for a few quiet minutes before the chaos of the day begins or finding pockets of time throughout the day to meditate on Scripture, prioritize nurturing your relationship with God. As you do, you’ll find that His Word infuses every aspect of your life with hope, strength, and peace beyond measure.

With love and encouragement, Terryn

P.S. Remember, it’s not about perfection or fitting into a rigid schedule; it’s about making space in your heart for God to speak and move in your life.
