A New Favorite For My Home | Chesapeake Bay Candles

Home decor is not my strong suit. I like to keep a clean, semi organized home so my family feels comfortable, but that is where I tend to stop. I look at all these images of beautifully decorated homes, and think…maybe someday. When my kids are all grown!

However, there are a few things that I do love having in our home that makes me feel like I am decorating. I love big, cozy blankets, pictures of our family, and the soft light of lamps. I also love decorating with candles…but have a hard time finding ones I love.

When Chesapeake Bay offered to send me an assortment of candles from their Mind And Body Collection, I was so excited. I have seen their candles in Target and knew they were gorgeous. The jars are softly frosted so the flame shines through when lit and it is just beautiful. The other things that immediately drew me to these candles are that they are made from a natural soy wax blend, and are infused with all natural essential oils. If you know me at all, you know that having natural products and whole foods in my home are very important to me. 

 

 

At first, I wasn’t sure about the fragrance choices they sent me. I tend to go for vanilla scents and spices, with the occasional Christmas scents around the holidays. The candles they sent were nothing like that! However, as soon as I lifted the wooden lids on the jars, I was immediately transformed into this peaceful oasis. It was a bit strange, to be honest. We are in the middle of winter and it is dark and gloomy. My house doesn’t get nearly enough light for my liking. But believe me when I say…I almost forgot about all that for a few moments. That must be what Chesapeake Bay means when they say “wellness for the mind and body.”

Let me show you the candles I was given and you can tell me your favorite…

CHESAPEAKE BAY MIND & BODY BALANCE + HARMONY LARGE JAR CANDLE

This candle is a favorite of my oldest daughter. She begged me to let her keep it in her room, but I am not quite there yet. The aqua color of the frosted jar blends perfectly with her room decor, but I like how nice it looks in our schoolroom as well. The fragrance of this one is Waterlily Pear, but that doesn’t give it justice. It smells almost tropical with a slight coconut scent mixed with sandalwood and rosewood, and enhanced with orange essential oil. Think of the outside coming in your home to bring a sense of balance inside.

CHESAPEAKE BAY MIND & BODY PEACE + TRANQUILITY COFFEE TABLE JAR CANDLE

This candle may be my favorite.  I love the soft cream color of the frosted jar. White is the color of purity and tranquility and can bring a sense of relaxation for the mind and body. It can blend in anywhere in my home and looks perfect on my living room mantle. I love the scent of this candle – Cashmere Jasmine. Again, never a scent I would have picked for myself, but it is now a favorite of mine. It is fresh and clean, but has a soft floral scent of rose, jasmine and cotton blossom. There is also a hint of white musk and sandalwood. Essential oils of Ylang Ylang, Lemon, Cedarwood only enhance the fragrance. 

CHESAPEAKE BAY MIND & BODY REFLECTION + CLARITY MEDIUM JAR CANDLE

This candle is the Sea Salt Sage fragrance and it is just lovely.  Soothing notes of chamomile, eucalyptus, and lavender allow your mind to just quiet down and reflect. Bright cyclamen and botanical cedar wood cut through the noise of everyday hustle and bustle. Sea salt, clary sage, and thyme clear the air, with an inspiring freshness akin to a brisk morning sunrise reflecting on the shores of the bay. This candle has Orange, Chamomile, Lavender, Laurel, Patchouli, and Tea essential oils and is perfect for my morning quiet time. Can you even imagine what this smells like? 

CHESAPEAKE BAY MIND & BODY CONFIDENCE + FREEDOM MEDIUM JAR CANDLE

This last one is Oak Moss Amber. I had no idea what to expect when I saw the name of this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. This reminds me of the ocean.  A crystal marine and shimmering ozone top note carries its strength like a free-flowing river. Lavender and sage are brushed by white cedar and oak moss and intensified with warm amber, oriental spice, and sensual patchouli. The fragrance reveals a touch of elegance and confidence laced with Copaiba, Fir, Lemon, and Patchouli essential oils.
